Pale brodée reproduisant en miniature la célèbre statue de la Vierge noire d’Altötting (Bavière) sur un fond de Pékin de soie ivoire. La pale mesure 16,5 cm de côté. Environnés de rinceaux d’or et d’argent, la Vierge et l’Enfant se regardent tendrement. Couronnés, la mère et son fils portent une riche robe brodée d’or et un tablier de velours noir brodé de fleurs et surchargé de joyaux que lui offrent les dévots en remerciement des grâces reçues.
Centre de pèlerinage marial depuis le IXe siècle, Altötting a été désigné par le pape Benoit XVI comme « le cœur de la Bavière et l’un des cœurs de l’Europe« . La « Gnadenkapelle » qui renferme la statue miraculeuse, reçoit chaque année un million de visiteurs, venu demander sa maternelle protection.

Embroidered liturgical pall (16,5 x 16,5 cms) eproducing in miniature the famous statue of the black Virgin of Altötting (Bavaria) on a bottom of silk ivory. Surrounded with foliages of gold and silver, the Virgin and the Child look tenderly. Crowned, the mother and her son wear a rich dress embroidered with gold flowers, and an apron of black velvet embroidered with flowers and overloaded with jewels that the princes and pilgrims have given her to thanks for received favors.
Center of Marian pilgrimage for the IXth century, Altötting has been designated by pope Benoit XVI » as the heart of Bavaria and one of the hearts of Europe « . The « Gnadenkapelle » which contains the miraculous statue, receives every year a million visitors, who come to ask for her mothering protection.
